Kia ora,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m Portia, a registered Māori / Pākehā midwife based on the North Shore. I believe in whānau-centred care, understanding your hauora (well-being) is deeply connected to whānau and your community.
My philosophy is pillared on providing holistic care, which involves care for all areas of health. The model of health, Te Whare Tapa Whā, encompasses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being which are all equally important factors of health during this transformative time.
My role as a midwife is to provide individualised midwifery-care, which empowers whānau to make informed decisions surrounding their care. My aim is to work in partnership with you and your whānau.
I provide care for whānau in different settings such as home-based labouring, homebirth, waterbirth, primary birthing centres and hospital-based birth.
